My good friend Brian Harniman is the Director of Strategy at FROM: The Digital Transformation Agency. So, when we catch up it’s always fun to brainstorm marketing. This time we caught up while doing a podcast. Brian share with me one of his pet peeves which is when business persons or CMOs call marketing a tax. The premise behind the statement that some folks make is that great products or services sell themselves. They don’t, with extremely rare exceptions of Tesla and the first three years of Google.
The remainder of our interview is also great, with discussions about how inertia in companies results in missed opportunities and why / how PE-owned firms often benefit from the owners having a more comprehensive, long-term vision of digital transformation than original owner-owned firms.
