ECOS is shaking up a boring but essential chore with its new natural laundry scent booster, highlighted in a chat between Kevin Lee and Jenna Arkin, Chief Innovation Officer at ECOS, at Expo West 2026. Instead of the usual mix of synthetic fragrances, dyes, and harsh chemicals you find in most scent boosters, this one is salt-based and uses baking soda plus a new enzyme to tackle tough odors. The idea is simple: keep clothes smelling fresh longer and avoid that annoying moment when you realize you left a wet load in the washer and feel like you have to wash it all over again.
Jenna also points out that the formula helps keep the washing machine itself fresher by breaking down the gunk that leads to musty smells. For scents, ECOS looked at what people actually want from their laundry: a classic floral option with Magnolia & Lily, a clean “just washed” vibe with Fresh Linen, and a more modern Ocean Breeze scent that’s quickly growing in popularity. Since a lot of people just stick with whatever detergent they grew up with, ECOS focuses on key life moments when they’re more open to change—like pregnancy, when new parents start paying closer attention to ingredients, or when young adults move out and want products that match their values.
With clear, easy-to-understand chemistry and a focus on cleaner ingredients, the new scent booster is set to roll out at Whole Foods nationwide in September and on Amazon, with more markets coming in 2027.
