I was super excited to catch up with Tamer Hassan, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman at HUMAN. Tamer, as his LinkedIn bio notes, “led the takedown of the biggest bot fraud organization 3ve with the help of Google and the FBI.” HUMAN was recently named a leader in Forrester Wave’s “Bot Management Software Q3 2024” evaluation, where the company received the highest score possible in “Detection Models,” “Customizable Reports and Dashboards” and “Supporting Services and Offerings,” among other categories.
Tamer and I discuss the ongoing struggle to combat fraud in digital advertising, emphasizing the need for industry-wide efforts to educate advertisers and create a unified standard for fraud prevention. We explore the future of advertising on the internet, including the implications of privacy and anonymized identity, and the potential impact of autonomous agents and new technologies on the industry. We both agree that a comprehensive compliance framework is necessary to govern the supply chain and ensure the right controls are in place.
Topics discussed in our talk include:
- The evolution of fraud and cybersecurity, with new environments and technologies emerging.
- How fraudulent pages siphon ad dollars from legitimate content.
- How the intersection of privacy, AI, and advertising will shape the future of the free and open web.
- How organized fraud operations in CTV and OTT are becoming a major threat.
- How audio inventory is becoming a new frontier in ad fraud and cybercrime.
- Why advertiser education is key to solving fraud and cybercrime in the digital ad ecosystem.
