The Chumby is a Linux based Internet device that delivers customized channels 24/7. It is a Linux based gadget that hooks up to the Internet via Wi-Fi. In addition to looking incredibly cool, it has a squeeze sensor, accelerometer and a great 3.5" touch screen. It runs widgets, which are flash based programs that deliver just about anything you want to your Chumby, there are hundreds available at the Chumby website. Everything from weather to stock quotes to games. Since the widgets are flash based, just about anything you can imagine is available (retro 50's TV commercials anyone?). We liked it so much that we gave one away at our eMarketing 8 conference in San Francisco April 2008 This is one fun little device. It is available in a number of colors and looks great just about anywhere, a real conversation starter. If you spend all day at a computer it is a nice addition to your desk. Every day the content will change according to the channels you set up on the Chumby website. So while you are waiting for Windows to re-boot you can learn a new word, play a game, catch up on the news or weather, or just watch some You Tube. It is also fun to squeeze. Chumby will play/charge an iPod through its very nice stereo speakers (although it only supports non copy protected music), it doesn't support the iPhone but all Nanos work.

At about $175 (that includes free shipping and handling), the Chumby creates a whole new category for Internet appliances. It is one of those “Why didn’t I think of that” products that could have a significant impact on the market. Check it out at their website Chumby.com, and buy one today.
